Standard Frame Packers – Trade-Grade Packers for Window & Door Frame Installation

Standard frame packers are rigid plastic shims used to space, support, and align window and door frames during installation. They are commonly placed behind fixing points to help keep the frame plumb, square, and correctly positioned before final fixing.

These packers help create a controlled gap between the frame and the structural opening, reducing the risk of frame distortion when screws or fixings are tightened. They are suitable for professional frame fitting work across uPVC, aluminium, and timber window and door installations.

Our standard frame packer range includes the popular 53x62mm frame packers available to order directly online, along with extended frame packer sizes available through our quote service. Choose from compact packers for tight fixing areas, longer packers for extended support, and wider packers where a broader bearing surface is required behind the frame.

Choosing the Right Standard Frame Packer

Choose a standard frame packer based on the size of the frame-to-opening gap, the fixing position, and the amount of support needed behind the frame.

  • Smaller frame packers, such as 25x45mm, 28x34mm, and 30x40mm, are useful for compact fixing areas, tight reveals, and smaller adjustment points.
  • Longer frame packers, such as 25x100mm, 30x76mm, 30x116mm, and 45x100mm, provide extended support behind the frame and can be useful where a longer bearing area is preferred.
  • Wider frame packers, such as 34x50mm and 45x60mm, give a broader support face and are suitable where extra stability is needed around fixing points, hinge areas, locking points, or larger frame sections.

Select the thickness that fills the gap without forcing the frame out of position. Thinner packers are useful for fine alignment, while thicker packers provide more support where the gap is larger or the opening is uneven.

Standard Frame Packers – FAQs

Standard frame packers are used behind window and door frames during installation. They help align the frame, maintain a consistent gap, support fixing points, and reduce the risk of distortion when fixings are tightened.

Frame packers are commonly placed near fixing points and other support areas where the frame needs to be held square, plumb, and correctly spaced before final fixing.

Choose a compact packer for tight areas and smaller fixing zones. Choose a longer or wider packer where you need more bearing area, extra support, or better load distribution behind the frame.

Use the thickness that fills the frame-to-opening gap without pushing the frame out of alignment. Thinner packers are better for fine adjustment, while thicker packers are used for larger gaps or stronger support.
